While The Boys will be ending with its upcoming fifth season, it’s clear there’s a lot more story to be told in this universe. Hence, the announcement of Vought Rising, a prequel series set to star Aya Cash and Jensen Ackles, set in the early days of the superheroes in this twisted universe.
In a statement, executive producer Eric Kripke and series showrunner and executive producer Paul Grellong said that “We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of The Boys. It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Vought Rising is the third spinoff to come from The Boys universe, following the animated anthology series The Boys Presents: Diabolical and Gen V, the college-set series that takes place concurrently with the flagship series. (Gen V characters were even featured in the Boys Season 4 finale.) While a prequel series, the events of the show will likely have additional repercussions on the new series.

Ackles was introduced as Solider Boy, one of the first-ever superheroes, during Season 3 of The Boys; his legacy is a complicated one, with the reveal that he’s the father of Homelander (Antony Starr) only the start of it. Cash, meanwhile, was first introduced as Stormfront in Season 2, a superhero whose superpowers and dark fascist beliefs made her a terrifying antagonist and powerful ally for Homelander.
No release date has been announced yet for Vought Rising; The Boys just recently wrapped up its fourth season on Prime Video.
