Following his performance of the track on Saturday Night Live this weekend, Post Malone has dropped the official music video for “Cooped Up” featuring Roddy Ricch.
The elevated visual, which was directed by Andre Bato, sees Malone perform his opening bars in a blue suit jacket and turtleneck from a playfully futuristic bedroom, before Ricch enters through a red door to deliver his lines.
“I’m about to pull up / Hit switch, pull curtain / And I been waiting so long / Now I gotta resurface,” Malone sings on the chorus. “And yeah! We boutta toast up / All that bread that we burning / ‘Cause I been feeling cooped up / I been fu*king cooped up.”
A group of dancers, who are dressed in all red and orange, then abruptly enter the room and circle the two rappers for the final sequence.
Posty made his musical guest debut on Saturday Night Live‘s Selena Gomez-hosted episode this weekend, where he began with a performance of “Cooped Up” alongside Roddy, before debuting a new track with Fleet Foxes, titled “Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol.” An entourage of acapella singers joined the Grammy-nominated artist on stage for the latter single, while a live percussion performance supplemented the newly-debuted tune.
Both “Cooped Up” and “Love/Hate Letter to Alcohol” will appear on Malone’s upcoming album, Twelve Carat Toothache, which is scheduled to arrive on June 3.
