Porter Robinson fans are today (July 22) getting a double dose of the producer, with Robinson dropping a remix of his own “Get Your Wish.”
The edit is a sped-up, tricked-out take on the original, with violins and drums traded for shimmery, glitchy effects and the already pitched up vocals pitched up even higher. The remix — the first work Robinson has released under his DJ Not Porter Robinson alias — follows another official edit of the track by Anamanaguchi that was released last week. Hear both “Get Your Wish” edits below.
“Get your wish is a song about finding a reason to keep going, even if it’s not for your own sake,” Robinson wrote of the original song upon its release in January. “Get Your Wish” is the lead single from Robinson’s forthcoming sophomore LP, Nurture, with the album’s second single “Something Comforting” dropping in March. A release date for Nurture has not yet been announced.
This will be Robinson’s first full length album since the 2014 release of his much-beloved Worlds LP, which Billboard ranked as the 15th greatest dance album of the decade.
The new edit is the latest in what’s been a busy year for Robinson thus far, with his Second Sky online festival in May receiving accolades as one of the best livestreams festivals the dance scene has witnessed so far during quarantine.
