Porsche’s Taycan GTS Finds the Sweet Spot

Porsche’s Taycan GTS Finds the Sweet Spot

It’s been quite the month for the German marque Porsche, having released its track-ready 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport and road-going counterpart, and of course the new-gen 911 earlier this year, but now it’s put the focus back on its electric car, the Taycan, with the announcement of a GTS spec.

Sitting between the ‘entry-level’ Taycan 4s and top-spec Turbo iteration, the GTS Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo are described as being the range’s sweet spot. This sporty all-rounder comes with 598 PS, which is good for a 0-62 MPH time of 3.7 seconds in both body forms and a top speed of 155 MPH.

The general range is 263 to 313 miles, depending on just how hard you push the car and in what environment you are driving in, but ultimately these figures make for the first Taycan to break the 500km mark in terms of range. Furthermore, the GTS comes with adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) that’s been reconfigured specifically for this spec, while the rear-axle steering is set up to be sportier than the base model.

Elsewhere, the Porsche Electric Sport Sound has been tuned to the character of the GTS models, while black and darkened exterior details will further denote this as the GTS spec. Lastly, Porsche introduces a nine-segment panoramic roof that can be flipped from clear to matte thanks to the implementation of a liquid crystal film that can change how much of the outside world you’d like to see from the cabin, without making the interior darker. In short, this is a world-first in the automotive industry.

Available in the spring of next year, the car will cost from €131,834 EUR and €132,786 EUR in Germany (for the GTS Sport Turismo and Cross Turismo, respectively, costing approximately $148,000 USD and $149,500 USD). Take a closer look at both above.

Elsewhere in the automotive world, Genesis has unveiled its electrified GV70.
