Porsche’s Latest Taycan Lineup Makes Stunning Debut in Singapore

Porsche's Latest Taycan Lineup Makes Stunning Debut in Singapore

Porsche Singapore has electrified the automotive scene with the unveiling of its refreshed all-electric Taycan lineup during an immersive event held at the historic Pasir Panjang Power Station. The multisensory experience showcased the latest advancements in Porsche’s electric vehicle technology, while the highlight of the evening was the stunning world premiere of a one-off creation, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade.

A New Era for the Taycan

The updated Taycan models offer enhancements in performance, efficiency and design, building upon the foundation laid by its predecessor. With a total of seven variants, including the adventure-ready Taycan Cross Turismo, the 2024 lineup boasts an array of features that elevate the driving experience. These include more powerful electric motors, quicker acceleration and extended driving range, which now reaches up to 678 kilometers on a single charge — 35 percent more than the previous generation.

Additionally, Porsche has focused on optimizing the Taycan’s design, incorporating new front and rear styling along with HD matrix headlights featuring the brand’s signature four-point lighting. Inside, all models come with advanced features like adaptive air suspension, a BOSE surround sound system and a Porsche Intelligent Range Manager (PIRM).

Hannes Ruoff, CEO of Porsche Asia Pacific, emphasized the significance of the new lineup, stating, “We are setting a new benchmark for all-electric sports sedans, not just in terms of performance but in offering a unique ownership journey with charging benefits and our new Porsche Privilege programme.”

World Premiere of the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade

The real showstopper of the evening was the surprise unveiling of the one-off Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade. This bespoke creation was born from Porsche’s Sonderwunsch program, which allows customers to personalize their vehicles to extraordinary levels. Inspired by the vibrant Southeast Asian region, the Celestial Jade features a first-ever blend of two ChromaFlair paints: “Urban Bamboo,” a bright green with gold tones and “Shifting Carbon,” a deep grey with blue undertones. This remarkable paintwork, created over 80 hours, shifts colors across eight different blend points depending on the angle of view, giving the car a dynamic, ever-changing appearance.

Notably, the Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade also incorporates other bespoke elements, like the “LongMa” logo, a mythical symbol of power in Asian culture, which adorns the car’s door sill guards and headrests. The exclusive carbon-weave finish components on the front bumper and wheels further enhance the vehicle’s distinctive aesthetic.

With the Taycan Turbo S leading the pack, the new lineup boasts impressive performance. The Turbo S version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds, thanks to its advanced electric motor, while other models in the range also benefit from quicker acceleration and the option for a “Push-to-Pass” feature that delivers an additional 70 kW of power for swift overtakes.

In Singapore, the new Taycan models start at SGD 392,007, with deliveries expected to begin at the end of 2024. In addition, Porsche offers three years of complimentary charging at 130 locations across the island as part of its Porsche Destination Charging Network.

A Series of Firsts

In a conversation with Hypebeast, Alexander Fabig, the Vice President of Individualisation and Classic at Porsche shared “It’s the very first time that we have two Chromaflair colors fading into one another. It’s the first time that we’ve used Chromaflair in the clear coat of the carbon fiber exterior parts — we have single Chromaflair flakes in the clear coat of the carbon fiber parts.”

He also remarked that it was the first time the Taycan had seen two leathers combined through the Leather to Sample (LTS) offering  — namely English Green and Slate Grey. Following its debut in the Celestial Jade, LTS will now be offered across the new Taycan lineup, consisting of over 150 different colors that clients can choose from.

As the head of Classic Cars at Porsche, Fabig was also uniquely positioned to share his thoughts on how the Taycan honors the brand’s heritage while also ushering in a new age. He stated “I think tradition and innovation have always been a major part of the Porsche DNA. For example, a lot of technical innovation was driven by the turbo drivetrain — I think it goes well hand in hand. While I don’t have numbers, we’ve seen that the majority of Taycan owners are not simply pure electric people but that they also have a 911, Cayenne or something else. It’s not really a decision of ‘either-or’ it’s more so complementing.”

Looking Forward

The one-off Taycan Turbo S Celestial Jade will be shown privately to select clientele at Porsche Studio Singapore before embarking on a Southeast Asian tour, stopping in Malaysia and Thailand. With its groundbreaking features and personalized design, the Celestial Jade serves as a fitting tribute to both Porsche’s innovation and the rich culture of Southeast Asia.

As mentioned by Fabig, while honoring tradition, Porsche continues to stand on the principles of meaningful innovation, experimenting with new technologies as well as design elements — like its recently unveiled Turbonite color, which is notably featured on the Celestial Jade.  Additionally, Porsche Singapore reaffirmed that its Porsche Experience Center (PEC) is well on its way. The two-kilometer dynamic handling track will also feature a fully integrated, high-capacity Aftersales facility, making it a first-of-its-kind of any PEC in the world.

Between its expansive collaborations, new vehicle models and focus on wide-ranging experiential offerings, Porsche Singapore continues to reinforce itself as a leader in luxury automotive in the region.
