Porsche has just unveiled the Taycan Turbo GT, the highest trim level for the EV sedan that’s the most powerful production vehicle the brand has ever made, including all 911 variants and even the 918 hypercar.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT tops the Turbo S electric vehicle with a specific focus on performance, while maintaining the core elements of the EV sedan. For starters, the Turbo GT outputs up to 1,092 horsepower and 988 lb-ft of torque at its very peak – under launch control and with the car’s overboost function – thanks to a new 900-amp power inverter supplying the juice. 0-60 is accomplished in as fast as 2.2 seconds. Pirelli P Zero R tires wrap each 21” wheel for max performance summer grip, and lightweight Porsche Carbon Composite Brakes (PCCB) come standard to help with intense braking force and fade resistance. There’s even a new “Attack Mode” feature that provides 120 kW or roughly 160 hp of additional power for overtaking at the most opportune straight aways.
In addition, the Taycan Turbo GT will have an optional Weissach Package available, much like the modifications to Porsche’s previous 918, GT3RS and GT2RS cars. The feature package – surprisingly a no-cost option – will adorn the rear of the Taycan Turbo GT with an exclusive wing for added downforce, as well as a slew of lightweight deletions. Most noticeably, the rear seats have been removed, as well as the trunk’s electronic soft-closing system. Rear speakers and BOSE is also removed from the configurations, along with dual charging ports – Weissach cars will only have one charge port on the passenger side. Carbon fiber panels also cut weight off of the B-pillars, mirrors, side skirt inlays, carbon bucket front seats (European Market only) and more. In total, the Turbo GT already shaves 157 lbs. off of the the Taycan Turbo S – the Weissach is therefore even lighter. All the loss equates to 0-60 in 2.1 seconds and a faster top speed of 190 mph.
The Taycan Turbo GT and GT Weissach Package vehicles come with two new exclusive colors – Pale Blue Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic – for the first year and will be priced at $230,000 USD when it hits dealers this summer.
