Porsche Design’s Soundbar 2.0. Pro Is a Home Speaker Made From a 911 GT3’s Exhaust

It’s no secret that Porsche makes incredible and often head-turning products — however, these are usually destined for the road and track, not the home. That’s where Porsche Design comes in, as the tech and home atelier arm has just unveiled its latest speaker, the 911 Soundbar 2.0. Pro.

Your eyes do not deceive you — this speaker is made using a real exhaust system taken right from the Porsche 911 GT3. Here, the lightweight stainless steel exhaust system is fitted with 2.1.2 virtual surround-sound system with Dolby Atmos DTS HD streaming to create a home subwoofer with both visual and audio presence, hanging from the wall like a sculpture. 300 watts ensures plenty of bass — much like a GT3’s engine note until it screams up the rev range — while built-in Apple Airplay 2 and Google Chromecast promise all of the mod-cons that you’d expect from such a home speaker set-up.

Car-specific touches like a black high-gloss and a matte-black rear silencer and tailpipe trim have been designed to echo the design details of the GT3 while also complementing the most modern motoring enthusiast home interiors, while a natural tint to the exhaust system maintains that automotive theme.

Limited to just 500 units, each piece comes with its own insignia and retails for €8,990 EUR (approx. $8,771 USD). Take a closer look at the 911 Soundbar 2.0. Pro above, and pick one up now from Porsche Design Stores, in selected Porsche Centers and online.

Elsewhere, Sony has announced when its PlayStation VR2 Headset will drop.
