P!nk is in support of California’s newest law, which sees the state becoming the first in the United States to mandate vaccinations for eligible teacher, staff and students attending in-person classes at public and private schools for grades seven through 12. On Sunday (Oct. 17), the “Cover Me In Sunshine” singer took to Twitter to voice her disapproval for those participating in state-wide walk outs to oppose the new mandate, which went into effect on Oct. 1.
“To anyone participating in the ‘state wide walk out’ in opposition to vaccine mandates…. Where were you when they made us start wearing seatbelts and not having polio???? Late to the party!!!! #keepingkidssafesinceforever #dontwantmeaslesneither,” the 42-year-old shared on her account, along with several middle finger emojis.
A follower replied in P!nk’s defense and wrote, “I’m a happily vaxxed teacher who wears a mask daily! I love to be in the same room as the amazing children that I teach. I will be getting my booster VERY soon. I want to be able to be near my loved ones as much as possible!” P!nk agreed with the fan, and expressed her eagerness to get a COVID-19 booster shot. “Me too! (Well I’m not a teacher) but happily vaxxed so I don’t kill people by accident! Give me the booster somebody!!!!!” she added.
