PlayStation 5 is Rolling Out a Major System Software Update Globally

Sony announced on Tuesday that it would soon be launching a major system software update to the PlayStation 5.

Hideaki Nishino, Sony’s senior vice president for platform experience, wrote in a blog post on Tuesday that the second major update would launch tomorrow, September 15. The update includes enhancements to the PS5 console experience, including Control Center customization and an updated Game Base.

The new enhancements also include 3D audio support for built-in TV speakers and an M.2 SSD storage expansion, which allows gamers to store and play PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and media apps directly.

Expanded mobile features with support for PS Remote Play will also be included in the update, along with the ability to view and share screen broadcasts on the PS App beginning Thursday, September 23.

In other gaming news, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X may soon become even rarer as chip prices continue to soar.
