The anticipation for new music from Playboi Carti continues to grow, as fans remain in the dark about the rapper’s next release.
DJ Akademiks took to Twitter over the weekend to voice his frustration with Carti’s mysterious absence, despite multiple non-streaming singles in recent months.
“Imma have to go find Playboi Carti again….” he tweeted.
“Last thing that n***a told me was ‘2024’ music … its halfway thru the year …its finna be 2025 soon. they gave me two dates that dey aint stick to lol.”
Adding to the speculation, DJ Swamp Izzo, who has been working closely with the Atlanta MC, commented on Akademiks’ Instagram repost of the tweet with a “soon” emoji and another comment reading “Fuk it TONIGHT.”
This coincides with Carti’s scheduled performance at the Summer Smash festival in Chicago on June 15.
While fans are hopeful for a new release, there is still uncertainty about whether Carti will drop new music or simply perform at the festival.
Known for his inconsistent presence and release schedule, Carti has kept fans on their toes with recent hints and teases.
Adding to the online buzz, Playboi Carti has also been involved in a bizarre feud with metalcore artist Ronnie Radke over a merch dispute and other grievances.
Given Carti’s sporadic online activity, it’s unlikely that Radke will receive a prompt response.
Despite the uncertainty, Playboi Carti’s track “FE!N” remains popular, and there’s still a lot of excitement around his Instagram singles.
Fans are holding onto hope that 2024 will bring new music from the rapper.
