Phil Elverum Details Microphones Vinyl Box Set

After teasing it in an interview on Sonos Radio Hour last fall, Phil Elverum has announced a massive, career-spanning Microphones box set. Completely Everything, 1996–2021 will include all seven Microphones albums (across 10 LPs), 74 gigabytes of digital downloads, song stems, and a 107-page booklet, all packaged “in a huge slipcase with a silvery sash,” as Elverum put it in a trailer for the release. Watch that below. Completely Everything is available for pre-order here. The sets will ship out next month.

“Here you can buy everything from the Microphones contained in a humongous box,” Elverum wrote on his website. He also seemingly implied that the box set marks the end of the Microphones. “This is final,” he wrote. To commemorate and tombstone 25 years of this intermittently-awake recording project, we made this chunk. It’s a 10 pounder, lift with your legs.”

Completely Everything is a limited one-time run, and will not be re-pressed. Elverum noted that a few of the albums within the set will not be re-pressed, but he does not specify which records.

In addition to the vinyl reissue of each Microphones LP, the digital download portion will feature the complete discography, early cassettes, unreleased outtakes, live recordings, and stems, all issued as high resolution audio. The 107-page book features never-before-seen photos, notebook pages, artworks, and detailed notes.
