Phaidon to Chronicle the Cultural History of Birds in a New Art Book

Following recent releases with Sneaker Freaker and KAWS, Phaidon will be releasing a new art book on the fascinating history of birds.

The 352-page volume ties in an extensive network of ornithologists, art historians, wildlife photographers, conservationists, and curators, who chronicle the scientific and popular appeal of birds throughout the ages. From the bird etchings of Ancient Egypt, Guinness’ toucan mascot, to the Twitter bird of the present day, the book plays special emphasis on the symbolic nature of our winged friends.

Keeping in line with Phaidon’s focus on the arts, the book will also include a variety of contributions from celebrated figures, such as Barbara Kruger. Bird: Exploring the Winged World has an MSRP of $59.95 USD and will release globally on November 10. To pre-order, please visit Phaidon’s website.

Elsewhere, Stems Gallery will present a pop-up exhibition in Paris for FIAC Week.
