Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have unveiled the brand new trailer of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The three-minute visual first hears Peter Parker, portrayed by Tom Holland, touch on how his life has changed ever since becoming the titular hero and having his identity revealed by Mysterio. Things make a turn for the worse, however, when he accidentally disrupts a spell Dr. Strange casts, opening up an avenue for all the franchise’s previous villains — Doc Ock, Electro, Green Goblin, Sandman and Lizard — to enter his universe.
While the villains have appeared in different franchise reincarnations, appearances from previous Spideys Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were not confirmed in this trailer. Doc Ock does point out during the visual that Holland’s Peter is not the Peter that he knows, possibly making way for Maguire. Meanwhile, the trailer’s final scene, which sees Peter Parker trying to save Zendaya’s MJ from a fall, harks back to the heartbreaking ending of Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 when he was unable to save Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy.
