Dubai’s art market has been steadily on the climb in recent years, with a number of global brands and institutions setting up spaces in the desert region. To add to the list, Perrotin will unveil a permanent gallery in the city’s International Financial Centre.
The new space is slated to open later this year and joins Perrotin’s list of galleries across six other cities, including Paris, Hong Kong, New York, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai. Located not far from other art houses, such as Christie’s and Sotheby’s, Perrotin Dubai will feature a 100-square-meter space that will present primary market works by artists represented by the gallery alongside works from the secondary market.
“Dubai is six hours by plane from two-thirds of the world’s population, and a highly dynamic city that is attracting a new audience. We are always keen to bring our artists’ voices to audiences who do not always have the opportunity to engage with their work. The whole region is developing projects around art, and we want our artists to be able to participate in them,” said Emmanuel Perrotin in a statement.
Elsewhere in art, Night Gallery will now represent burgeoning LA-based artist, Marcel Alcalá.
