The South Korean DJ is on top of the world, releasing her first debut album I Hear You eight years after her first single, Peggy Gou is cementing her position in the electronic genre. From crowd-pleasing anthems to major features, Peggy Gou is one of the hottest names on the festival lineup at the moment.
There’s a lot to applaud Gou for as she becomes a rising celebrity DJ. From being the first-ever Korean woman to play Berghain, as well as headline major Ibiza superclubs and even announcing her own clothing line Peggy Goods, Gou proves she is all about the music and then some. Last year, she released the hard-hitting track “(It Goes Like) Nanana” which was heard in clubs, bars and radios everywhere. The ’90s house-inspired song hit No. 1 in five countries and as of present, has earned almost 500 million streams.
Now, she has released her debut Album with XL Recordings, which has been home to big dance acts like Overmono and the Prodigy. Heavily drawing on ’90s club music, her debut album continues to bring the same retro sound that references the tones of popular ’80s and ’90s house music giving her tracks a hint of nostalgia.
