Fashion designer Paul Smith has teamed up with Land Rover to release a limited edition die-cast model of the Defender 90, originally created in 2015. The 1:18 scale model is a collector’s edition that captures the unique design and detailing of the bespoke Defender, reflecting Smith’s signature style and Land Rover’s iconic craftsmanship.
The model features working steerable front wheels, opening doors and hood, functioning suspension and an aerial. Detailed interior and engine components, as well as undercarriage specifics, showcase the meticulous attention to detail. Measuring 24 x 12 x 9 cm, the model is crafted from 60% zinc alloy, 30% plastic, 8% rubber and 2% metal, ensuring durability and a premium feel.
Inspired by the British countryside and the Defenders used by the Armed Forces, the original Paul Smith Defender is known for its vibrant colors and playful design elements chosen by Smith himself. This collaboration between Paul Smith and Land Rover celebrates British design and engineering excellence, making the die-cast model a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts.
The large-scale 1:18 model is available on the designer’s official site for $235 USD, joined by a smaller option in the 1:43 scale that is priced at $95 USD.
