Paul McCartney’s New Year’s resolution is to “finish a new album”

Paul McCartney's New Year's resolution is to "finish a new album"

Though we’re still more than a week away from 2025, Paul McCartney has already shared his New Year’s resolution. While answering fan questions on his official website, the Beatles member revealed that he hopes to “finish a new album.”

“I’ve been working on a lot of songs, and have had to put it to the side because of the tour,” McCartney wrote. “So, I’m hoping to get back into that and finish up a lot of these songs.”

He continued, “So, how’s about that? ‘My New Year’s resolution is to finish a new album!’”

McCartney’s last solo album, McCartney III, was released in December 2020. Several months later, he shared a covers project called McCartney III Imagined featuring contributions from Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Beck, and more.

Elsewhere in the Q&A, McCartney confirmed he was taking a “well-deserved rest” and spending time with family after wrapping up his “Got Back” tour in London last week. “I’m one of those guys that loves to overdo decorations,” he said, “so I need a minute to sit back, relax and enjoy them.”

On Thursday (December 19th), McCartney reunited with Ringo Starr on the closing date of his tour to play “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)” and “Helter Skelter.” Perhaps McCartney’s former bandmate will also make an appearance on the upcoming album.

Over on the big screen, McCartney and Starr are set to be portrayed in a quartet of biopics directed by Sam Mendes. Paul Mescal is reportedly set to play McCartney in the films, with Barry Keoghan as Starr.
