British contemporary artist Paul Insect will host a four-day pop-up event in East London to showcase works created over the expanse of his career. Presented in collaboration with Avant Arte, Insect, who also goes by the alias PINS, is occupying an unassuming shop that he has frequented numerous times over the past decade, intermixing his own eccentric artworks within the chaos of the space.
To complement the event, Insect and Avant Arte will be releasing two new limited edition silkscreen prints in PINS’ characteristic collage aesthetic. Details surrounding the upcoming release are still under wraps, but according to a teaser via Instagram, fans can also expect “one of a kind artworks and objects.”
Born in 1971 in England’s Southeastern coast, Insect — whose chosen surname comes from the Insect collective he started in the ’90s, first arose to prominence through his vibrant collage portraits that probe into the relationship between the visible and invisible. Since then, Insect has expanded his practice to include sculpture, such as the massive rainbow chiller character he unveiled during the recent Glastonbury festival, along with the kitchy, slightly eerie looking figures that will on view in his new pop-up.
For those in London, This & That will open in Hackney on July 11 from 6pm to 9pm (GMT) and from 11am to 5pm on July 12 to 14.
