Palace Skateboards‘ influence in streetwear is omnipresent, but the label has its hands in many other pots — one of them being music. As part of its Spring 2023 collection, the London-born imprint has introduced an all-new record, titled “PALACE THINGS,” which is set to launch on Friday, February 3.
Written by longtime collaborators Will Oldham, or Bonnie “Prince” Billy, and Matt Sweeney and featuring Tuareg guitarist Mdou Moctar alongside his band, the record will arrive exclusively on vinyl. According to a statement from the brand, “PALACE THINGS” is a love song: “a driving hymn to the affinity felt between Oldham and Sweeney and the London skate company who bootlegged a portrait of Bonnie “Prince” Billy onto one of the first boards they ever produced.”
Notably, the front album cover pictures Moctar holding Oldham’s Greatest Palace Music record in a red-lit room, next to the full entourage. Meanwhile, the back sleeve pictures a Palace-branded statue and lists the names involved on the record. Alongside the vinyl, Palace has debuted a white T-shirt that memorializes the project’s artwork on its front and back.
“PALACE THINGS” by Bonnie “Prince” Billy and Matt Sweeney with Mdou Moctar will be available in stores and online on February 3 at 11 a.m. ET. Take a look at the vinyl and the accompanying T-shirts in the gallery above.
