Offset has officially announced the release date of his sophomore solo album, Set It Off. Looking to continue to venture off in his solo career, he channels one of the greatest artists of all time for a Michael Jackson-inspired music video for the track “Fan,” to set things in motion.
Breaking away from the group dynamic, the former Migos member said in a statement regarding referencing MJ, ““I feel like Michael Jackson coming from a successful group breaking records to superstardom on my own. This body of work is healing for me and a letter to my fans and supporters.” Taking major inspiration from MJ’s Thriller era, Offset leans into many of the artist’s motifs for his latest “Fan” music video. He gives nods to some of Jackson’s most famous moments including from videos for “Thriller,” “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal” and more.
The album is said to feature Travis Scott, as well as fellow Atlanta rapper Future and Chloe Bailey, Latto and of course his wife, Cardi B. Just last month Cardi and Offset’s duet “Jealousy” was released. Offset took to his social media channels to announce the news with the album cover and links to pre-save the album.
Watch the video for “Fan” above and look out for the new album arriving on October 13.
