‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ To Premiere Two Days Late With Two Episodes

Disney+‘s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series is moving its premiere from Wednesday, May 25, to Friday, May 27, Ewan McGregor announced in a video on Thursday.

The series will now premiere with two episodes instead of just one, though it is unclear whether future episodes will drop on Wednesdays or Fridays in the following weeks.

“Incoming transmission from Obi-Wan Kenobi,” Disney+ wrote on Twitter alongside McGregor’s announcement.

The Disney+ series will now compete for viewers with the first installment of Netflix‘s Stranger Things season four, which is scheduled to premiere that same day.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will see McGregor and Hayden Christensen reprise their roles as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, respectively. The series takes place 10 years following the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, during which Skywalker fully transformed into Darth Vader.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly earlier this month, writer Joby Harold said that Christensen’s return to the series, which was announced in October of last year, was “so important” because he is “such a massive part of the character.”

“It was a priority to all of us that we did it with as much care as possible, so as to honor one of the greatest villains and antagonists in the history of entertainment,” he added.

In other entertainment news, Bruce Willis is “stepping away” from acting due to aphasia.
