Oasis to cancel 50,000 tickets bought through resellers for 2025 reunion shows

Oasis to cancel 50,000 tickets bought through resellers for 2025 reunion shows

The saga of Oasisreunion show ticket fiasco continues — on Tuesday, October 29th, it was announced that thousands of tickets purchased through third-party resale sites for the band’s 2025 UK tour dates would be canceled.

The news was confirmed by the promoters of the reunion shows, Live Nation and SJM Concerts, who told the BBC that tickets from unauthorized secondary platforms will be canceled “soon,” after which they will be made available again through Ticketmaster (the official seller) at face value.

This move comes after Oasis and the promoters issued several warnings to — as one company spokesperson put it — “not purchase tickets from unauthorized websites, as some of these may be fraudulent and others subject to cancellation.” Since the time of the initial on-sale, the only verified sellers are Ticketmaster and resale partner, Twickets.

Despite that warning, thousands of tickets were made available on resale sites just hours after the initial on-sale opened. According to the company spokesperson, “four percent of tickets have ended up on resale sites,” accounting for around 50,000 tickets.

As Live Nation and SJM put it, harsh counter-scalping measures such as these were “put in place to take action against secondary ticketing companies reselling tickets for huge profit.”

Nonetheless, Viagogo has indicated that it will continue selling Oasis tickets as long as it’s legal to do so. “Two percent of Oasis tickets are on Viagogo and Stubhub,” representative Matt Drew said. “We will continue to sell them in the way the regulator says we can. We are serving a clear consumer need, we will continue doing it on that basis.”

Currently, ticket resale is generally legal, so long as it happens legitimately and not as an act of scalping, but laws vary depending on the region. At this time, it is not explicitly clear if the cancelations will be for all of Oasis’ upcoming shows, or only the ones in the UK.
