Novelist Takes London to the West Coast in His New ‘G Funk’-Fuelled EP ‘4 Tha Homiez’

Novelist Takes London to the West Coast in His New ‘G Funk’-Fuelled EP ‘4 Tha Homiez’

Aside from his recent link-up with UK rap veteran Joe Grind on “That’s How You Feel,” it’s been roughly a year since Novelist supplied fans with new music. Following a busy EP-filled 2020 that saw mini projects hit the streets in abundance, you only need to look at the likes of Inferno, Rain Fire and, Heat to see N.O.V. explore grime, rap, drill, drum & bass and even reggae.

Now today, the Lewisham-born rapper is celebrating his latest project entitled 4 Tha Homiez. In many ways, the 10-tracker is an inheritor to the energy and swagger heard on previous drops, although there’s a focus on West Coast rap this time around. Thanks to production from Novelist himself, and close collaborators Prem and SusTrapperazzi, the trio has compiled a selection of ‘G Funk’ records with the throughline being bass-heavy and rich synth melodies that are made for head-nodding cruises round the city.

“I made this project for the homies,” Novelist tells HYPEBEAST. “I want to distinguish that people may know me on the surface, but really they don’t know me at all. 4 Tha Homiez is a color on our pallet that shows our influences growing up, it’s a homage to a sound we love and that we drive around to. This is made for us! I’m just blessed to be able to share it on such a big platform.”

Along with the EP, Novelist has supplied some fresh visuals for stand-out track “SOUTH MAN,” that you can see above. You can also stream the full project below.

In other music news, Polo G has teased a new song on Instagram.
