Nothing has announced details of its next online launch event where it is expected to reveal the release date for its latest flagship device – Phone (2).
The London-based tech brand launched Phone (1) last summer and went on to ship half a million units in the time since then. Arriving one year after its predecessor’s debut, Phone (2) continues the traditional 12-month iterative cycle shared by most of its competitors. It will be Nothing’s second release of the year after the Ear (2) launch in March.
While not much has been revealed about the new device, the phone’s signature Glyph Interface is expected to return after peering through the tentacles on the mysterious teaser released by the brand (they’re after octopus name suggestions on Twitter, by the way). Nothing has also confirmed that Phone (2) will be available in the U.S. upon launch, huge news for fans of the brand who were not able to purchase Phone (1) locally. The company has previously only sold its earphones in the region, so its expansion into the world’s largest economy should be interesting to watch. In an interview with Inverse earlier this year, CEO Carl Pei said the company “decided to make the U.S. our number one priority”, explaining that brand did not launch Phone (1) in the U.S. “because we were only in our second year and our hands were tied building the team as we were building the products. Now, as we’re on a more solid footing, we can take a step forward.”
Tune in to the Phone (2) launch online via Nothing’s website on July 11, 2023 at 11am EST / 4pm BST.
