Chicago producer and multi-instrumentalist Nnamdï has announced a new album. It’s called Please Have a Seat and it is due October 7 via Secretly Canadian and Sooper Records, marking his debut on the former label. The lead single, “I Don’t Wanna Be Famous,” comes with an Austin Vesley–directed video in which Nnamdï is harassed by paparazzi and obsessive fans. Nnamdï has also announced a fall U.S. tour, kicking off in Iowa October 18. Check out the new single and the full list of tour dates below.
Please Have a Seat spans 14 tracks and is Nnamdï’s sixth full-length album overall, following his 2020 LPs Brat and Krazy Karl. He wrote, produced, and performed the new record entirely by himself. In a statement, Nnamdï described it as an exercise in living in the moment: “I realized I never take time to just sit and take in where I’m at. It’s just nice to not be on ‘Go, Go, Go!’ mode, and reevaluate where I wanted to go musically. I wanted to be present.”
Last year, Nnamdï released the electronic Are You Happy EP. He also remixed songs by Porridge Radio and Anjimile, and, unfortunately, missed out on several tour dates with Wilco and Sleater-Kinney after fracturing his wrist in a scooter accident. Thankfully, he’s since recovered.
