Nipsey Hussle has been posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on what would have been the rapper’s 37th birthday.
In attendance at Hollywood Boulevard to receive the star on behalf of the artist was his family, which included his grandmother Margaret Boutte, sister Samantha Smith and longtime girlfriend Lauren London. London spoke at the award ceremony and paid homage to the late Crenshaw rapper, “I think I speak for the entire city of L.A. when I say that we’ve always known Hussle was destined for greatness. This moment only amplifies this for us. Nip would’ve been honored by this moment.” His sister also said a few words at the ceremony, speaking on how proud she was of her brother, “Nip the Great, look at who you are, look at what you did. I’m in awe but I’m not surprised. You’ve been a star in my eyes, the family’s eyes, God’s eyes, far before the accolades caught up. You’ve affected the lives of so many in the realist ways — the realist ways, the realist ways. You’ve been a pillar in our family, in the community.”
Many big names such as Big Boi, Roddy Ricch, Isaiah Thomas and Russell Westbrook also were in attendance to honor and celebrate Nipsey. Watch below at the full ceremony for Nipsey Hussle’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star in Los Angeles.
