Nintendo Addresses Rumors of the Nintendo Switch Pro Release

Nintendo officially addressed the rumors surrounding the possible release of the Nintendo Switch Pro model.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, the company wrote, “A news report on July 15, 2021(JST) claimed that the profit margin of the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) would increase compared to the Nintendo Switch. To ensure correct understanding among our investors and customers, we want to make clear that the claim is incorrect. We also want to clarify that we just announced that Nintendo Switch(OLED Model) will launch in October, 2021, and have no plans for launching any other model at this time.”

Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch OLED earlier this July; the upcoming model features an expanded seven-inch screen, a wide adjustable stand for tabletop usage, an updated dock that includes a wired LAN port, 64GB of storage and an advanced audio system. It does, however, use the same Nvidia Custom Tegra processor as the regular Switch device.

“The new Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is a great option for players who want to experience the new vibrant screen when playing in handheld and tabletop mode,” said Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser, in a statement. “With the addition of this new model to the Nintendo Switch family of systems, people have an additional choice of a system that best fits the gaming experience they desire – whether it’s Nintendo Switch (OLED model), Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch Lite.”

The Nintendo Switch OLED model is set to release on October 8.

Elsewhere in gaming, EA released a teaser trailer for Skate 4.
