Newest ‘Last Man Standing’ Trailer Points to Suge Knight and LAPD’s Supposed Involvement in Biggie and Tupac Murders

The newest trailer for Last Man Standing: Suge Knight and the Murders of Biggie & Tupac is pointing at Knight and the Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) involvement in the 1996 and 1997 incidents.

Nick Broomfield’s upcoming documentary film explores the claims made by the late Russell Poole, a former LAPD detective who alleged that there were police officers moonlighting as staff of Suge Knight‘s Death Row Records. These officers were supposedly involved in the murder of Biggie Smalls, which was orchestrated as payback for the murder of Tupac. The latest trailer sees a handful of people, both witnesses and individuals close to the situation, narrate just how close Knight and the LAPD officers reportedly were:

“Suge Knight the former CEO of legendary rap music label Death Row Records was recently sentenced to 28 years imprisonment for manslaughter and other violent crimes not typically associated with a highly successful record executive. This film takes a look at Death Row and how L.A.’s street gang culture had come to dominate its business workings.

The film also looks at the allegation of former LAPD detective Russel Poole that the reprisal killing of Biggie Smalls, a retaliation to the murder of Tupac, was commissioned by Suge Knight with the help of corrupt LAPD officers who were moonlighting at Death Row Records. These police officers were also members of Suge’s criminal gang the Mob Piru’s and with their resources helped orchestrate the hit on Biggie Smalls. The film produces new evidence and witnesses who actually saw these LAPD officers present on the night of Biggie’s murder, and who also testify that critical information had been deliberately withheld and concealed by the LAPD.”

“I felt more and more determined that the LAPD weren’t going to get away with a kind of snow job of pretending they weren’t involved and anybody who thought they were was an idiot and a conspiracy theorist,” Broomfield shared in a recent interview, also adding that Poole “got a really hard deal.” He added, “I just felt that there was an injustice and it wasn’t just an injustice to Biggie Smalls—it was an injustice to all the other people who had actually fought to tell the truth and been denigrated, I felt, by the LAPD.”
