Honda has launched the facelifted Civic lineup in Japan, including the new sporty RS trim that is exclusively available with a six-speed manual transmission and rev-matching system.
While the automaker hasn’t shared very many details at the time of writing, it did highlight a few key updates, which include sport-tuned suspension, RS-specific badging, 18-inch Berlina Black aluminum wheels, redesigned bumpers and functional tailpipes. Inside, the five-door hatchback features a red dashboard and door card inserts, with dark-themed upholstery and a leather-wrapped aluminum shift knob.
As for performance, the new Civic RS is equipped with the turbocharged 1.5L VTEC engine, producing 180 hp — while less power than its U.S. counterpart, it should still be plenty of fun thanks to its 6-speed gearbox. It’s also worth noting that a new paint color has been introduced: Seabed Blue Pearl, alongside the existing lineup of Platinum White, Crystal Black, Premium Crystal Red and Sonic Gray options. Slated for a September release, the new Honda Civic RS will start at ¥4,198,700 JPY or approximately $28,162 USD.
