No one has a chokehold on consumer demand quite like Taylor Swift. In light of news that the artist’s record-breaking “The Eras Tour” is getting a concert film, Blumhouse has moved the premiere of its upcoming film The Exorcist: Believer up from its original October 13th release date to October 6th to avoid competition with Swift’s project.
“Look what you made me do,” production company head Jason Blum tweeted, announcing the news. “#TaylorWins.”
It’s a smart move from Blumhouse. Swift’s fans immediately crashed the AMC app trying to buy tickets to the concert film, so you can bet where most consumers will be on October 13th. For those still hoping to snag tickets, you can try again here — while supplies last, the seats also come with a mini poster memorializing the event.
“The Eras Tour” film is helmed by Sam Wrench, the director known for documentaries and concert films starring Mary J. Blige, Billie Eilish, Lizzo, and BTS. Meanwhile, The Exorcist: Believer is directed by David Gordon Green and stars Leslie Odom, Jr. as a father whose daughter comes back from the woods, well, possessed. What’s more, Ellen Burstyn reprises her role as Chris MacNeil for the first time since the original 1973 Exorcist.
