Netflix has released the trailer for Senna, a limited series on the legendary F1 racer Aryton Senna, who died in a racing accident at the age of 34. During his career, Senna won three F1 championships and 41 Grands Prix.
Gabriel Leone stars as the Brazilian race car driver. The six-episode series kicks off at the beginning of Senna’s career in Formula Ford up until the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, in which Senna died in an accident while leading the race.
“Even before I got into a car, I already knew I was born to race,” Leone says in a voiceover.
The show was filmed in Brazil and scenes are largely in Portuguese with some English.
In addition to offering a closer look at Senna, the show hones in on his supportive parents Miltão (Marco Ricca) and Zaza (Susana Ribeiro) and his girlfriend Xuxa (Pâmela Tomé). Also in the mix is Laura Harrison (Kaya Scodelario), a reporter who befriends the driver. Matt Mella plays Senna’s McLaren rival, Alain Prost.
