Netflix has dropped a new teaser trailer for its upcoming sci-fi film starring Adam Sandler. In Spaceman, Sandler plays an astronaut named Yakub who returns from a lone mission back to Earth.
The film stars Carey Mulligan and Paul Dano alongside Sandler. In the short teaser dropped by the platform on YouTube, the clip features Sandler’s Yakub seemingly treading through a body of water in a spacesuit. A voiceover narrates, “Just like you, I’ve fled my planet. Through galaxies, through black holes, through time, and then I find you.” The ominous utterance gives fans a glimpse of what to expect for Sandler’s sci-fi project but only just enough to keep you on your toes.
Directed by Johan Renck, the film’s synopsis reads, “Six months into a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system, an astronaut, Jakub, realizes that the marriage he left behind might not be waiting for him when he returns to Earth. Desperate to fix things with his wife, Lenka (Mulligan), he is helped by a mysterious creature from the beginning of time he finds hiding in the bowels of his ship. Hanuš (voiced by Dano) works with Jakub to make sense of what went wrong before it is too late.” The film is adapted from a 2017 novel by Czech authro Jaroslav Kalfař. Colby Day wrote the scrip and the film features additional cast members like Colby Day wrote the script for Spaceman, which also features Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin and Isabella Rossellini. Producers of the film include Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan alongside Michael Parets, Tim Headington, Lia Buman and Max Silva, while Ben Ormand and Barry Bernardi are executive producers on Spaceman.
