Netflix’s ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ Projected to Bring In $15 Million USD at Box Office

Netflix’s ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ Projected to Bring In $15 Million USD at Box Office

Netflix has remained tight-lipped regarding the box office performance of its sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. The streaming giant is testing a limited theatrical release with the film, which is only available for a week-long in theaters across roughly 600 cinemas.

According to Variety, Knives Out 2, which sees Daniel Craig return as the titular Detective Benoit Blanc, grossed $13 million USD over the extended Thanksgiving weekend. Its predecessor, Knives Out grossed $26 million USD in the same time frame but was released in 3,461 theaters. Based on the estimates, Glass Onion would’ve placed third in domestic box offices had it not been a limited release to only 600 theaters. Since the roll-out tests Netflix’s theatrical release strategy, it appears that they might be on the right track for the future.

The sequel sees the likes of Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn and Kate Hudson join in on the murder mystery fun alongside Daniel Craig. The film is the first Netflix film to play in the country’s three biggest film chains, AMC Theaters, Regal Cinemas and Cinemark.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is slated to stream on Netflix on December 23.

In case you missed it, watch Joseph Sikora, Terrence J., T.I. and more star in Fear trailer.
