Following the blueprint of pop culture favorite Drive to Survive, Netflix has been doubling down on storytelling in sports, with one example being Full Swing. Releasing on February 15, season one provided unprecedented access to life on the PGA TOUR through the stories of Rory McIlroy, Tony Finau, Brooks Koepka and others.
Now, less than a month after its debut, Netflix has announced that the docuseries will be returning for a second season. And although the production team will remain the same, this time the focus will be on an entirely new set of golfers. And given that season one already crossed the PGA TOUR’s most high profile names off the list, show producer Chad Mumm will be hoping that new heroes emerge over the course of 2023. For most viewers this was the series biggest success, with Joel Dahmen becoming a crowd favorite for his humility and vulnerability throughout his dedicated episode.
Something else thing to keep an eye on will be how the show deals with the competing LIV Tour. In season one the show was forced to grapple with news from the rival tour as players like Dustin Johnson, Brooks Koepka and Ian Poulter left the PGA TOUR mid-season. This time around, it’s likely the primary focus will remain on the PGA with allegiances now well established.
