Netflix has teamed up with developer Tender Claw for a Stranger Things VR game, arriving sometime in winter 2023.
The streamer announced the title on Sunday in celebration of Stranger Things Day 2022. The psychological horror-action game allows players to take on the mantle of season 4’s antagonist Vecna.
A brief teaser trailer gives a feel for the art style of the game but holds back on storyline details and specific gameplay experiences.
“Play as Vecna in this new Stranger Things adventure in VR,” the trailer’s description reads. “Become an explorer of unknown realities as you form the hive mind and tame the void.”
As Vecna, players will be challenged to “invade minds and conjure nightmares in [their] quest to enact revenge on Eleven and Hawkins.”
Netflix has previously released a mobile console game for the hit series, 2019’s Stranger Things 3: The Game. It technically already put out the first-person Stranger Things: The VR Experience in 2017, but the title was more of a demo and offered little int erms of actual gameplay.
Watch the teaser for Netflix’s Stranger Things VR.
