Netflix Is Coming Out With a Second Season of Its ‘Squid Game’ Reality Show

Netflix Is Coming Out With a Second Season of Its 'Squid Game' Reality Show

Netflix has renewed Squid Game: The Challenge for a second season. Based on the hit namesake South Korean drama, the debut season of Netflix’s reality show-style spinoff aired just last month.

Enlisting competitors from throughout England, 456 individuals competed for$4.56 million USD in prize money, the largest cash prize lump sum in game show history. More than two years after the release of the original Squid Game, the reality show maintained the top spot among Netflix’s English language shows for a few weeks after its release.

Several contestants, however, have taken to social media to complain about ill-treatment while competing on the show. One user on TikTok explained that a game of “Red Light, Green Light” – which took place over a few minutes in the original Squid Game show – took several hours to film. Others reported sustaining injuries on set, including hypothermia.

Nonetheless, Netflix is charging ahead with another season of Squid Game: The Challenge. The streamer shared a link where users can apply to compete in the forthcoming season. On the page, those interested select whether they’re from the US, UK or elsewhere; answer questions; and record a 1-minute video where they share what their “game plan” would be and what they’d do with the cash prize if they won.
