Netflix has just confirmed the production of Extraction 2 over at its Tudum event with a new teaser trailer, along with the return of Chris Hemsworth as Tyler Rake, Sam Hargrave as director and the Russo brothers as producers.
A Netflix original, Extraction first debuted on the streaming platform back in 2020 to massive popularity, becoming the company’s top streamed original film by May the following year with 99 million views. The plot centered around Hemsworth’s character of Rake, a highly trained mercenary tasked with extracting the son of an Indian drug lord from kidnappers in Bangladesh. While the film ended on what appeared to be Rake’s death, a post-credit scene suggested that the warrior had somehow survived his gunshot wound and subsequent plummet into a river, although neither Hargrave nor the Russo brothers revealed any plans to bring back the character until the new teaser was released last week.
Netflix has yet to announce a release date for Extraction 2, so fans of the original should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Squid Game‘s writer and director has now revealed plans for a potential second season.
