Netflix Adds a ‘Two Thumbs Up’ Rating Button

Netflix Adds a ‘Two Thumbs Up’ Rating Button

Netflix has added a new Two Thumbs Up button to its platform, which will allow users to indicate that they are highly interested in certain content on the platform.

The new feature, which will be used to further curate and personalize a user’s recommended content, will reside next to the streamer’s previously-existing Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down controls on a TV show or film’s page.

“Our current Thumbs Up and Thumbs Down buttons are a good way for you to tell us how you feel about a series or film, and in return, you get a profile that’s better personalized to your taste,” the streamer explained in a blog post. “However, we’ve learned over time that these feelings can go beyond a simple like or dislike.  Providing an additional way to tell us when you’re really into something means a profile with recommendations that better reflect what you enjoy.”

While the button includes two thumbs, it does not hold twice the weight of the singular Thumbs Up button, the company said.

“There’s no fixed weight that we’re putting behind that thumbing,” said Doig-Cardet, via TechCrunch. “It’s just going to be another input that the recommendations take into account.”

The new Two Thumbs Up button is now available on Netflix’s web, TV, Android and iOS interfaces beginning today.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Curb Your Enthusiasm will return for season 12, according to Larry David.
