‘Neopets’ Hacker Holds 69 Million Accounts Ransom For Bitcoin

A hacker has now stolen upward of 69 million accounts on Neopets and is trying to sell them for Bitcoin. There’s also a chance credit card information has been leaked. The hacker is now trying to sell all this information for four Bitcoin on a black market website, which roughly equates to $92,000 USD at its current price.

We are also engaging law enforcement and enhancing the protections for our systems and our user data.” Though the company has acknowledged the breach, it has yet to publically announce exactly how large the breach was and how many users’ account info was leaked. Numerous outlets have reached out for comment, but there hasn’t been a response as of writing.

Elsewhere in the gaming industry, the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is reportedly being delayed indefinitely.
