Neil Young will play Glastonbury in 2025 after all, says decision to pull out was an "error"

Neil Young has reversed course and decided to play the Glastonbury Music Festival in 2025 after all.

Earlier this week, the legendary musician announced that he had pulled out of appearance at the UK festival, citing concerns that the event has taken a “corporate turn.” He cited Glastonbury’s ties to the BBC and them wanting “us to do a lot of things in a way that we were not interested in.”

However, in a new statement posted to his official website on Friday, Young explained that the information he had received was “an error” and “the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there!”

In her own statement, Glastonbury organizer Emily Eavis confirmed that Young would be headlining the festival’s Pyramid stage. “What a start to the year! Neil Young is an artist who’s very close to our hearts at Glastonbury. He does things his own way and that’s why we love him. We can’t wait to welcome him back here to headline the Pyramid in June,” she wrote in a post to Instagram.

Young is set to tour in 2025 with his new band, The Chrome Hearts, which features Micah Nelson on guitar, Spooner Oldham on organ, Corey McCormick on bass, and Anthony LoGergo on drums.

It’s worth noting that, with the exception of Young and confirming Rod Stewart in the Sunday teatime legend slot, Glastonbury has yet to officially announce its 2025 lineup. The festival, which traditionally reveals its lineup in the spring, is set to take place from June 25th to 29th in Pilton, UK.
