Over the years, photography brand Polaroid has increased its presence in streetwear thanks to various collaborations with the likes of Nike SB and Carrots. Back in 2018, one of the brand’s most expensive collaborations saw sacai outfit the iconic SX-70. Now, another Japanese label has been tapped to rework the portable instant film camera: NEIGHBORHOOD.
Taking on the SX-70 Alpha model, NEIGHBORHOOD has put its own touches on the archival camera. Its exterior has been re-done with crocodile leather spread throughout. At the rear, traditional Polaroid branding is joined by NEIGHBORHOOD’s “CRAFT WITH PRIDE” logo while maintaining the classic folding mechanism.
For those eager to purchase the NEIGHBORHOOD x Polaroid SX-70 Alpha model, it’s scheduled to go up for sale exclusively via NEIGHBORHOOD’s online store. Its is being raffled-off in limited quantities with open entry from August 10 at 11pm EDT to August 11 at 11pm EDT. From there, results will be announced on August 16 at 11pm EDT. Shipping is only available within Japan and its price has not yet been disclosed. For reference, 2018’s sacai collaboration landed at a hefty ¥110,000 JPY (approx. $981 USD at the time).
