Naughty Dog is currently working on multiple games, but only The Last of Us multiplayer spin-off has been teased so far while remaining discrete regarding the information on its rumored new IP.
Shedding light on why the game studio has yet to reveal any concrete details for its upcoming major project, Neil Druckmann, co-president of Naughty Dog explains in a recent Comicbook interview that it was due to the lesson learned from Unchartered 4 and The Last of Us Part 2.
The two games were announced years before their actual release dates, which put the development team under extreme pressure. Druckmann noted that “By delaying that announcement a bit, we could play with the schedule more and we’re more conscious now about how we’re approaching production.” He elaborates that “there’s our [The Last of Us] multiplayer project and there’s another project that I will not say anything about that’s beyond that, that we’re also very much excited for.”
Elsewhere in gaming, Dead Island 2 reveals a new playable character and updated release date.
