Homes on Lake Austin in the Texas capital city score high for natural beauty and privacy. Add a slip for two boats, an indoor pickleball court and a two-year renovation, and you have a luxury escape just half an hour from downtown.
The home at 13414 Shore Vista Drive sits on nearly three acres across the water from a nature preserve. The 8,846-square-foot home comes with 250 feet of waterfront on a quiet part of the lake, good for outdoor activities, such as kayaking and paddle boarding.
Large windows in the six-bedroom home let in natural light and showcase bucolic panoramas of the waterway. “We fell in love with the land, the views and the potential of the property,” the homeowner recently said.
The lake house was purchased as a second home that, as the owner’s family grew, was used less and less. The decision was made to rethink and renovate the house built in 2006.
The idea was to bring a modern aesthetic to the home’s look and feel. New white oak floors were installed throughout, textured paint on walls was removed and repainted, recessed lighting was put in, and all five bathrooms were renovated with modern tile and glass shower doors.
New surfaces, cabinetry and a Sub-Zero refrigerator were added to the kitchen. Patios on the second level were fitted with new stone flooring and glass railings. The exterior was resurfaced with stone slurry and freshly painted stucco to give it a rustic Italian look and feel. Karmyn Kopfer Papavasiliou of Kopfer Taylor Interiors was the designer.
The outdoor pool, spa, indoor basketball half-court (modified as a pickleball court) with vintage parquet wood floors and large, landscaped backyard are some of the wow factors for the property. There’s also a three-car garage.
It’s located in a gated community and close to the Lake Austin Spa Resort as well as restaurants and shops in the Steiner Ranch neighborhood.
