After multiple delays due to the coronavirus pandemic, the 2021 National Television Awards are finally here. Originally scheduled to take place in January, the ceremony — which honours the best of the best of British television — was delayed twice until a September date was eventually set. Hosted by The Masked Singer‘s Joel Dommett, the event took place on 8 Sept. at the O2 Arena in London and aired live on ITV.
The NTAs brought out some of the UK’s biggest TV stars, and honoured 2021’s most-talked about shows, including It’s a Sin, which won for best new drama, The Great British Bake Off, which in addition to saving us during lockdown won the award for best challenge show, and Line of Duty, which took home two awards out of the four it was nominated for.
But like any award show, in addition to finding out who the big winners were this year, we also wanted to see what our favourite celebrities chose to wear on the red carpet. And like many of the events post-lockdown, the stars made sure to go all out with their style choices. We saw lots of shimmer and sequins, from Maura Higgins metallic coord set, Maya Jama’s Azzi & Osta gown, Leonie Elliot’s silver foil minidress, and Katherine Ryan’s black-and-gold number. There were some pops of bright and bold colour courtesy of Olly Alexander and Charlene White, both of whom wore neon green. The biggest trend of the evening, however, was the colour white, worn by Mollie King, Rochelle Humes, Olivia Bromley, and Dr Zoe Williams to name a few.
