Nathan Fielder’s docu-comedy series for HBO, The Rehearsal, will receive a second run. Created, written, directed by and starring Fielder, the show prepares ordinary people to encounter difficult conversion and life events through a rehearsal, using paid actors and sets to mimic real-life situations.
For instance, the first episode of last season centers on a man who wants to confess to his bar trivia team that he lied about having a master’s degree. The show was rated highly by critics, who praised Fielder for its over-the-top simulations of events.
The news of The Rehearsal’s renewal arrived just before season one’s series finale, which premiered on Friday evening.
“One more chance to get it right,” the season two poster reads, showing Nathan facing the camera while a woman looks upset in the background.

“Nathan has sparked such a lively conversation with The Rehearsal,” executive vice president of HBO programming Amy Gravitt said in a statement. “We have no idea where season 2 will take us, and that is the delight of this boundary-pushing show from a truly singular talent.”
