Nathan Fielder and Emma Stone supported their new Showtime series, The Curse, with a joint appearance on Thursday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live.
While Fielder made a name for himself for his absurdist comedy on shows like Nathan For You and The Rehearsal, in real-life he’s completely different. For Thursday’s appearance on Kimmel, he came dressed in in all black, with mini sunglasses, a pieced ear, and a beret.
“You might be confused because I’ve been on your show before, but I’m doing a character. But this is me,” Fielder told Kimmel.
Much of the segment was dedicated to a New York Times review of The Curse, which lauded Stone’s performance while referring to Fielder as having “limited rage” and “stiff.”

“I don’t think they get what acting is,” Fielder lamented. “They don’t seem to get, they call it,’limited range, stiff’ — that’s the character, brother. They don’t get that I’m playing a stiff, nerdy guy, which as you can see is very different than the real me. In real life, I’m very relaxed.”
