Tin Roof, a Nashville-based live music club, plans to open a location in The Short North.
The site, in the former Flower Child space at 989 N. High St., would be Tin Roof’s 22nd location and second in Ohio, after a Cincinnati club that opened in 2012 next to Great American Ball Park.
Tin Roof opened its first location in Nashville in 2002. The venue’s mix of food and live music has since been duplicated throughout the eastern U.S., including in Indianapolis, Detroit, Lexington, Chicago and Louisville.
“Regulars and friendly crew helped quickly establish the Roof as the place to be for musicians and non-musicians alike,” according to Tin Roof’s website. “Over the years, our stages have hosted the famous, the should-have-been famous, and everyone in between.”
Artists who have performed at Tin Roof include Luke Combs, Kacey Musgraves, Florida Georgia Line, Dan + Shay, Dustin Lynch, Jake Owen, Scotty McCreery, Hunter Hayes, Casadee Pope and Ashley McBryde. While the clubs tout live music, the bulk of calendar dates at nearby clubs, including those in Cincinnati, Indianapolis and Detroit, are filled by DJs and karaoke shows.
According to city records, Tin Roof is spending $1.5 million to renovate the 8,235-square-foot space. The club’s application to hang a bright 6-foot-high retro sign in front of the space is scheduled to come before the Victorian Village Commission on Jan. 10.
A Tin Roof representative could not be reached for additional details including when the club is expected to open.
