NASA Wants To Send Your Name to Jupiter's Moon, Europa

Space fans have an exciting opportunity to be a part of space history with NASA’s new campaign, Message in a Bottle. The space agency is inviting people to submit their names to be engraved onto a microchip, which will be traveling to Jupiter’s moon, Europa.

Next year, the Europa Clipper spacecraft will be traveling 1.8 billion miles to the icy moon to investigate whether environmental conditions are suitable for life. The spacecraft will orbit around Europa, performing multiple flybys to get a closer look at what they believe is an ocean of water underneath the icy surface.

The microchip contains a poem by US Poet Laureate Ada Limón, to which the signatures will be added. Over one million people have already signed their names to the chip.

The Message in a Bottle will continue to be open for signatures until midnight on December 31. Head to NASA’s website to sign your name and be a part of space history.
