Nas Joins Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis for ‘Warriors’-Inspired Album

Nas Joins Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis for 'Warriors'-Inspired Album

Lin-Manuel Miranda and American playwright and actress Eisa Davis are creating a conceptual album inspired by the 1979 movie The Warriors — and the duo has just announced that Brooklyn-born rapper Nas has hopped on board as the project’s executive producer.

The 26-track record will include a “star-studded cast” of voices, though the team, which also includes producer Mike Elizondo, has not announced who exactly will appear on the songs.

The Warriors, directed by Walter Hill, brought Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel of the same name to the big screen. The plot follows a fictitious New York gang that must travel 30 miles from the north point of the Bronx to Coney Island after they were framed for the murder of a prominent gang leader.

In a joint statement on their galvanized album, Miranda and Davis said, “We’ve spent the past three years musicalizing the Warriors’ journey home, from the South Bronx to Coney Island. Along the way, we’ve gotten to work with a lot of our favorite artists, and we’ll be announcing their roles on the album in the weeks ahead. We can’t wait to share these songs with you.”

Miranda and Davis’ Warriors album, executively produced by Nas, will be released via Atlantic Records on October 18.
