Naija Music Hottest Songs In Nigeria 2022

Naija Music Hottest Songs In Nigeria 2022The Nigerian music scene has been awesome in 2022 and we have had some of the hottest songs on heavy rotations on our playlist. Nigerian artistes like Rema, Kizz Daniel, Asake, Oxlade, and many others held it down by releasing back-to-back hit singles that made an impact beyond Nigeria.

This year we had some of the biggest tracks like “Calm Down” by Rema, Burna Boy’sLast Last“, “Overdose” by Mavins, Oxlade with “Ku Lo Sa“, and Pheelz‘s “Finesse” etc. In retrospect, it was a good year for Afrobeats as many new school superstars like Omah Lay and Bella Shmurda dropped their debut albums.

In this post, we want to highlight some of the hottest songs in Nigeria as they trended on Naija Music. For brevity, we would be sharing our top 10 tracks across both secular and gospel music.

1. Mavins – ‘Overdose’

Music stars at Mavin Records led by Don Jazzy gave Nigerians one of the heaviest tunes this year. Crayon, Ayra Starr, Ladipoe, Boy Spyce, and Magixx dropped a ‘song of the year’ contender in “Overdose“. Everything checked out on this record; Don Jazzy’s production, the star-studded lineup, and the memorable verses that stuck in our heads. “Overdose” was released as a lead track from the record label’s 10th-anniversary album “Chapter X”. It is the second most-searched song in Nigeria, Naija Music’s number-one song in 2022.

2. Asake – Terminator

First of all, our list would never be complete without an appearance from YBNL music superstar Asake. The singer had a super amazing 2022 and dropped bangers all year long. “Terminator” is a fan favourite and one of the most popular songs on our platform. The Magicsticks-produced record topped the Apple Music chart in Nigeria for weeks, and also wrecked million of views on Youtube.

3. Moses Bliss – ‘Daddy Weh Dey Pamper’

Secular songs may be popular but the gospel end of things also witnessed some good buzz too. Moses Bliss was at the front burner. He released an absolutely amazing worship track “Daddy Weh Dey Pamper” which the gospel community thoroughly enjoyed. “Daddy Weh Dey Pamper” was a ringtone for many gospel music fans and a top gospel song this year.

4. Spirit Of Prophecy – ‘Omo Baba’

Nigerian gospel music band, Spirit of Prophecy came up strong this year with their hit record “Omo Baba“. The song title translates to Child of the Father in English, as it declares the Christian life of victory. Within a few months of release, this track became one of the hottest Nigerian gospels songs out there. The gospel music group performed “Omo Baba” at different gospel events across Nigeria. This track was also trending on our platform.

5. Chris Brown ft Wizkid – Call Me Every Day

American pop superstar Chris Brown’s joined forces with his Nigerian counterpart Wizkid on the track “Call Me Every Day“. The song is from the album “Breezy” released earlier in the year. Nigerian and American music fans love this track and it did good numbers on our platform.

6. Kizz Daniel ft Tekno – ‘Buga’

What a year Kizz Daniel has had in 2022. Following up on the success of his last EP “Barnabas”,he dropped a few tracks that did magic this year. Without warning, Kizz Daniel dropped “Buga“, another contender for the “song of the year” award. This track gave Kizz Daniel his first 100 million views on YouTube for a music video. “Buga” has been a hit across sub-Saharan Africa and other parts of the world. To cap it all, the singer performed the track at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup Fan Festival.

7. Omah Lay – ‘Woman’

As a lead-up to his “Boy Alone” album, Omah Lay dropped the hit single “Woman“. A playful romantic song where he heaps praises on his lady for always having his back. The lyrics are catchy and the delivery is even more appealing. This is one of the biggest tunes to come out of Naija and we loved it here too.

8. GUC – ‘Obinigwe’

“Obinigwe” by GUC was released last year, however, the gospel worship tune had a resurgence this year. Thanks to social media, the tune got to reach more people. For quite a while, “Obinigwe” had a remake on TikTok which took the buzz to another level. The gospel minstrel GUC is a blessing to the Nigerian gospel music community and his works are proof of that.

9. Mavins – ‘Won Da Mo’

The Mavins struck the bull’s eye again with their second official single “Won Da Mo“. This time Rema opened the track with so much energy and finesse and everyone who followed kept up the tempo. “Won Da Mo” went straight to the top of the music charts with millions of streams on digital streaming platforms.
